How do I receive and open my sequence text and electropherogram
files by E-Mail?
The zipped sequence files can be received using
Eudora
or other E-Mail
software. If you cannot receive zipped files, we can send the data via e-mail in either Bin Hex or MIME formats.Simple
text files can be opened using Microsoft Word. Electropherogram
files can be opened using Edit
View (for Macs) or Chromas
(for PCs) sequence analysis software.
All
three of these applications can be downloaded for free
from our links page or by clicking
on the links highlighted above.

What results should I expect to get back?
Sequencing
results; On average, we obtain read-lengths of 700 bp or more of sequence
data with 99% accuracy. Our read lengths frequently go well
over this, but read length is dependent upon several factors.
Important factors in automated sequencing include such
things as primer design, template DNA purity, template
DNA concentration, and the GC content of the DNA template.
Manual editing is the responsibility of the customer, but Eric, Carrie
and Jaime are available for advice and tips. All customers
will be provided with the simple text and electropherogram
sequence files for their sequences. For customers receiving
their results via E-Mail, the compressed files will
be sent as zip attachments. ABI sequence analysis software
is available for free. See our links
page for downloads.
